It should have been a Christmas weekend of peace and goodwill for all men, but that was furthest from the minds of a group of 100 and more foreigners and Thais who collectively lost 300 million baht.

They claim that a plv. manager of a branch of Kasikorn Bank took their money and promised a high return on investments that did not materialize.

Armed with posters, boards and PVC pipes, they protested outside Pattaya’s police station and bank branch after nothing happened in the case, which had been rumbling for months. They all want their money back and 7.5% interest at the time of the loss.

They hired a lawyer Sirichai Piyapichetkul, who said his clients were patient but grew stronger in their actions.

The Pattaya chief of police said the case is ongoing and they are still collecting evidence to be presented on Jan. 5. Bank officials are currently working with the police, he said.

If that date does not bring a satisfactory outcome, Sirichai said Thais and foreigners will march to the bank’s government building and headquarters on Pahonyothin Road in Bangkok to demand justice.
