More than 10,000 domestic tourists flocked onto Koh Larn on first day of holiday weekend

The start of the 3-day long holiday saw just over 10,000 domestic tourists flocking to Koh Larn.

Yesterday was the religious holiday Makha Bucha and due to Pattaya’s excellent safely measures, tourists were more confident than ever to travel out and enjoy the weekend break. Reports have shown that Pattaya has not seen any confirmed cases of Covid-19 for many days hence why Chonburi has been downgraded from an “orange” zone to a “yellow” zone earlier in the week.

Bali Hai pier officials saw thousands of tourists waiting at the pier for boats to the island as Koh Larn has been closed off to non-residents due to the pandemic. However, due to the tight border controls still in place, only domestic tourists can visit at this time.

It was reported that just over 10.000 people had checked in via the Covid-19 tracking app and other sign-in measures that are in place, and as always anyone travelling still had to have temperature checks, hand sanitizer and wear face masks.

Bali Hai officials were optimistic that this trend of heavier domestic tourism visitors to Koh Larn, which is nearly entirely reliant on tourism for their economy, will continue over the weekend.
