Good news for the day one fans of The Addams Family and its spin-off Wednesday; the popular Netflix series about the daughter of the creepy family is getting a sequel. A second season will officially be released on Netflix, the streaming service confirmed on Friday.

For many, the news that a second season is coming is a great reassurance. There have been some rumors recently that the series, despite its success, would stop after one season. Those rumors arose partly because Amazon has acquired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, the production company behind Wednesday.

Wednesday came out at the end of November and quickly became one of the most successful series ever on Netflix. The series, from director Tim Burton, is a spin-off of The Addams Family and centers on Wednesday, the family’s 16-year-old daughter. In the comic horror series, she investigates a series of murders, while trying to find her way at a school for students with psychic abilities.

The title role of the series is played by Jenna Ortega. The actress was previously seen in series such as Jane the Virgin and You , but since Wednesday she has become hugely known among the general public in a short time. Jenna is therefore seen as a promising talent.

Jenna is the first actress of Latin American descent to star in a major horror series like Wednesday. She previously told interviewer Luis Guzmán in the Netflix series Taste Buds that she never saw a good representation of herself in films. Jenna now hopes to be the example for others that she herself missed as a little girl.
