The Thai Ministry of Health has introduced stricter rules for food delivery services. This is intended to increase the confidence and safety of people using this service during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Suwanchai Wattana-Yingcharoenchai, director-general of the disease control department, said after meeting with representatives of the delivery service that his department instructed the delivery services to monitor and supervise their employees so that they strictly adhere to the four rules:
1. Delivery services should provide their employees with information on safe food delivery. During delivery, a distance of at least one meter from the customer must be maintained, food must not be placed on the floor.
2. All restaurants using delivery services must maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Food should be cooked fresh. Meat dishes must be cooked for longer than five minutes at a temperature of no less than 70 degrees Celsius.
3. Food distribution personnel must be registered with their company and wear hygienic protection or a fabric face mask while working. Delivery people should often wash their hands with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer, especially before and after each delivery. Wait outside for food and keep your distance from the restaurant employees. You should wash your hands after using the toilet and handling money. You should check yourself for any suspicious symptoms at all times. If necessary, they should interrupt their work and seek immediate medical attention.
4. Customers must be at least one meter away from a delivery person. Electronic payment systems should take precedence; the exact amount in cash must be available to avoid contact.
