A local resident found the body of a newborn baby on the side of the road in Si Racha over the weekend. Si Racha police have launched a search for the person responsible.

Si Racha police were informed of the discovery of a dead newborn baby on Saturday evening around sunset (May 29) on the side of a road near Khao Namsap Temple in Thung Sukhala.

Police and emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find the body of a newborn male baby near a half-dug hole. The baby is believed to have died at least five hours before his body was discovered.

Sangwien Duangyai, 59, who first discovered the body, told Si Racha police: “I feed street dogs near Khao Namsap Temple every day. I suddenly smelled an unpleasant odor as I walked to the temple before seeing what I thought was a puppy. There were some small blood stains on the road. “

“I moved closer before I was shocked to discover that the deceased was a dead newborn baby.” So Sangwien concluded.

Si Racha police have launched an investigation to find the baby’s mother and/or the person who dumped the child. A police spokesman said he believed those responsible had partially dug a hole when they were interrupted by passing traffic or a pedestrian and fled, leaving the deceased child in the half-excavated hole.
