Manchester United say goodbye to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, various English media write this. The board decided on Saturday evening in a crisis meeting to fire the Norwegian manager. Club owner Joel Glazer has yet to approve the decision to make it official.
The dismissal follows the defeat that Manchester United suffered on Saturday at Watford (4-1). Solskjaer apologized to United fans for this. He called the results “shameful and embarrassing.”
However, Solskjaer himself had no intention of resigning. “I am always committed to this club, I have been doing that for 18 years as long as I have been involved with the club. We communicate with each other in a clear way. If the club considers doing something, it is between me and the club ” said the Norwegian coach shortly after the game.
Manchester Evening News and Times Sport write that it was decided on Saturday evening to dismiss Solskjaer. According to the board, they must take action now if they want to make something of the season. The Times assumes that Solskjaer will receive an annual salary, which is equivalent to approximately nine million euros.
