Olympique Lyonnais player fired after farting in dressing room
A remarkable report from the French football league: L’Équipe reports that the contract of Brazilian footballer Marcelo of Olympique Lyonnais, who is led by Dutch coach Peter Bosz, was cancelled last winter after he farted in the dressing room.
Marcelo, who also played for PSV in the past, is said to have laughed exuberantly at his own fart, according to the newspaper. His teammates were also in a dent for the action. That led to a lot of anger at Olympique Lyonnais’ sporting director Juninho.
The footballer and director have not been able to get through a door for a long time. Juninho seized the opportunity to say goodbye to Marcelo. Olympique Lyonnais announced last winter that his contract, which ran until mid-2023, was being terminated because the player had misbehaved. The club did not provide any further details.
Marcelo played 167 games for Olympique Lyonnais and left in January for Girondins Bordeaux, which is on the brink of relegation from the French Ligue 1. The 34-year-old defender played for PSV between 2010 and 2013. There he came into action in 139 official duels, he won the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Scale
Dropped for farting? These days I’d get a lifetime ban for shitting on a pitch. Game’s gone. https://t.co/1MCbVk1DmU
