Pattaya anxiously awaits tourists in February
Pattaya tourism authorities are optimistic that the recovery of the Test & Go program will revive Pattaya’s international tourism.
Pattaya’s mayor sees a revival in the city’s tourism industry in February with the restart of the Test & Go program.
Sonthaya Kunplome said he expects more tourists to visit his city after Test & Go resumes and Pattaya regains its “sandbox” status.
As a result, tourists from any country can visit the city, although Test & Go tourists from 63 countries have the advantage of being able to go anywhere after testing negative for Covid-19 on arrival.
The Sandbox tourists have to stay within the borders of Pattaya for a week, but it is actually impossible to follow their “doings” as long as they check-in at their hotel every day.
Sonthaya concluded the interview that 10% of the 200,000 tourists who saw Thailand in November-December went to Pattaya. He expects it to stay that way.
