The authorities of Pattaya and Burapha University have jointly prepared the “Pattaya City Development Plan 2023-2027” to develop Pattaya into a tourist city of the future, Mayor Sonthaya Klunplome revealed yesterday, Dec. 8.

The plan is designed to make Pattaya the “Tourist City of the Future,” according to officials.

The five-year strategy will focus on a balance between the economy and the environment, quality aspects of life, including health, education, society and the environment, and an increase in alternative career skills for young generations in the digital age after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The mayor said: “Due to about two years of the domestic spread of the Covid19 virus, Thailand has to undergo tremendous development in many ways. For Pattaya, the change is somewhat in line with the NEO PATTAYA plan we started 3 years ago for sustainable tourism in the future.”

“Therefore, this five-year development strategy has been planned by all related sectors and has the potential to support the EEC (Eastern Economic Corridor) tourism hub and current multicultural lifestyle to make Pattaya a city with international economic opportunities again.”

The plan will be presented to the Pattaya City Council introducing five main tasks including:
