Chonburi province’s capital coastal town, Pattaya, is gearing up its Covid19 vaccination campaign in a bid to boost herd immunity before the city reopens in November.
In this campaign, the authorities pay special attention to elderly, bedridden patients, as well as people with chronic diseases and people who are prone to infections.
Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome oversaw the vaccination campaign at Pattaya City Hospital on Saturday and also led teams to the homes of bedridden patients.
He said that based on the number of vaccines allocated so far, he expects more than 80 per cent of the Pattaya population to have received a full vaccination by Oct. 15.
“Pattaya also vaccinates people who are not listed as residents, as well as foreigners and migrants to ensure everyone is protected,” he said.
The Pattaya City Hospital in Soi Buakhao is the main site where AstraZeneca and Sinopharm shots are administered to as many as 2,600 people daily.
