The mayor of Pattaya has ordered his relevant officials to closely manage the Bali Hai Pier after many alleged problems went viral on social media.

Dr. Mayor of Pattaya, Sonthaya Khunplome, yesterday ordered a significant increase in law enforcement and municipal officials to patrol the Bali Hai pier.

The team was led by the plv. Mayor of Pattaya, Wuttisak Ruemkitkarn, Pattaya City Law Enforcement Officers and Naval Office Officers.

Mayor Sonthaya spoke about the problem at Bali Hai Pier.: “We have received many complaints about boat operators (mainly speedboat) who do not have a legal license, some are annoying tourists and do not follow the service rules, unfair boat service charges and even some boats that take passengers in after disputes overpricing or other issues. These come from mainly domestic Thai tourists visiting nearby islands and the pier.”

“These issues have gone viral on social media, directly damaging the good image of tourism in Pattaya. We need to resolve these issues to ensure a positive experience for all tourists. We will continue to manage the pier to prepare for future events in Pattaya, where the number of guests going to Koh Larn and other islands is expected to increase significantly, especially during the fireworks festival and countdown weekends,” the mayor said.

One Pattaya newspaper noted that details of incidents were not given, but multiple complaints were recently seen on social media about alleged scams by speedboat operators, especially around last weekend’s Koh Larn music festival, where the boats were the only way around the island. to leave immediately outside of the ferry opening times when the concert took place.
