EXTRADITION for Canadian on U.S murder charge

The Criminal Court on Thursday ordered the extradition of Canadian Matthew Alexander McGowan to the United States to face an alleged murder charge there.

Earlier, prosecutors told the court that Mr McGowan was charged with murder with a gun in Florida in September 2017.

The Criminal Court approved the extradition, citing three reasons — the alleged crime carried a jail term of at least one year under Thai law, both countries have their extradition treaty and the statute of limitation of the case has not expired.

Mr McGowan was brought to the Criminal Court on Thursday from the Bangkok Remand Prison where he had been detained since his US-requested arrest in November last year.

The suspect had opposed the extradition.

The man had the right to appeal against the extradition order in 30 days

Horrified dad finds Uber driver ‘raping his daughter’

Horrified dad finds Uber driver ‘raping his daughter’ after tracking her on app when she failed to return home

A DAD claims he caught an Uber driver raping his daughter after he tracked her on a new app when she didn’t come home.

The horrified father allegedly found his 25-year-old daughter being attacked on the back seat of the ride-share car in the US county of Baltimore in Maryland.

According to CBS, the dad exchanged “words” with the driver, who then threw his daughter’s handbag at him before driving off.

The alleged sex attack happened in the Mays Chapel area just before midnight on Saturday.

Cops are treating the claims as a rape investigation, reports CBS.

Corporal Shawn Vinson, of Baltimore County Police, said: “This is a very serious allegation. The father of the victim called police and the victim is cooperating with police.

‘APPALLING BEYOND WORDS’

“This is an on-going investigation. Uber has worked closely with our detectives in this matter. We will release more information as the investigation progresses but it is vital at this time to withhold specific details to allow our detectives to continue their investigation.”

The woman’s dad was able to trace her daughter to West Timonium Road and Jenifer Road via an unidentified app.

Police said the incident was “isolated” and they do not believe there are other victims.

Uber put safeguards in place in America last year to prevent sexual assault and to keep riders more secure.

They included a way to contact 911 through the app, GPS tracking of every ride and annual checks of criminal and motor vehicle records of drivers.

Customers can also designate trusted friends and family to track their ride.

In a statement to CBS, Uber described the allegations as “appalling beyond words”.

The firm added: “We removed the driver from the app as soon as this report was sent to us. We will work with police on their investigation.”

Brexit Boris heads to No 10 after LANDSLIDE first round win

Brexit Boris heads to No 10 after LANDSLIDE first-round win

BORIS Johnson is on course for No10 after a landslide win in the Tory leadership election which all but guarantees he’ll make it to the top two.

The Brexiteer big beast won more than twice as many votes as nearest rival Jeremy Hunt – with Michael Gove and Dominic Raab trailing behind.

Andrea Leadsom, Esther McVey and Mark Harper were all knocked out after failing to reach the required threshold of 17 votes to proceed further.

Sajid Javid, Matt Hancock and Rory Stewart scraped over the line – but now face a tough fight to keep themselves in the race.

The huge victory for Boris in the secret ballot cements his frontrunner status and will give him huge momentum for the second round next week.

He is now heavy favourite to become the next Prime Minister – Ladbrokes put his odds at 1/5 with Mr Hunt on 7/1 and Mr Stewart at 16/1.

Boris Johnson said: “Thank you to my friends and colleagues in the Conservative & Unionist Party for your support. I am delighted to win the first ballot, but we have a long way to go.”

He took 114 votes – more than a third of the total – meaning he is almost certain to be one of the two candidates on the shortlist which party members will vote on next month.

Mr Hunt was on 43, Mr Gove 37, Mr Raab 27 and Mr Javid 23 – with Mr Hancock and Mr Stewart clinging on with 20 and 19 votes respectively.

Ms McVey came in last with the backing of just nine MPs while Mr Harper picked up ten and Ms Leadsom – the runner-up to Theresa May in 2016 – got 11.

The seven candidates who passed the threshold of winning at least 17 votes – 5 per cent of the party – now go through to a second ballot next Tuesday.

To make it beyond the second round contenders will need the backing of at least 33 MPs – putting pressure on the less popular candidates who scraped through the first ballot to drop out rather than prolong the fight.

But Matt Hancock vowed to stay in the race, saying it was “terrific to have more votes than I could have hoped for”.

A source close to him said it was a “really good result”, adding: “MPs have responded well to Matt’s energetic and positive campaign.”

Rory Stewart, who hung on by just three votes, claimed: “We’re getting some real momentum. It’s increasingly clear it’s me against Boris.”

His backer David Gauke told The Sun: “Rory can make the final two.”

A source close to Sajid Javid insisted he would pick up extra support in coming days as “a fresh face with fresh ideas to take on Boris”.

MAY POLL

Today the PM travelled to the Commons to cast her vote – but asked who she was supporting, she hit back: “That’s none of your business.”

Boris Johnson won the last-minute endorsement of veteran Brexiteer John Redwood, who said: “I’ve chosen to vote for Boris Johnson because he has said the withdrawal agreement is dead.”

Longshot candidates Mrs Leadsom, Ms McVey and Mr Stewart posed for a selfie together in the Palace of Westminster corridor where voting was taking place.

Ms McVey said after her defeat: “I am pleased to have had a platform to make the case for Blue Collar Conservatism, a clean break from the EU and the need to invest money into our schools, policing and a proper pay rise for our public sector workers.”

Jeremy Hunt vowed to push on and challenge BoJo for the top job, saying: “The stakes have rarely been higher for our country. This serious moment calls for a serious leader.”

His backer Amber Rudd added: “I am confident he will go ahead and gain more support as more people pull out.”

She said she hoped MPs would look at who would be best PM “for the country” and who can get Britain out of the EU “as soon as possible”, adding: “It was clear to me that Jeremy Hunt is the best person to do that.”

What happens next in Tory leadership election?

EVERY one of the 313 Tory MPs cast a vote in today’s secret ballot, the first step in choosing a new party leader and Prime Minister.

They used specially printed ballot papers in a wood-panelled Commons committee room, before bosses of the powerful 1922 Committee tallied up the votes and announced them to MPs.

Three of the ten candidates were expelled from the race after failing to pass the threshold of 17 votes – 5 per cent of the party.

The other seven will go through to the second ballot which opens at 3pm on Tuesday and closes two hours later.

In that round they need to get at least 33 votes to stay in the contest – meaning Dominic Raab, Sajid Javid, Matt Hancock and Rory Stewart will lose unless they pick up extra support over the weekend.

In the unlikely event all remaining candidates pass that figure, the contender with the fewest votes drops out.

If a third ballot is required it will take place on Wednesday, with any further ballots needed coming in quick succession on Thursday.

The rounds will continue until there are just two candidates left – almost certain to be Boris Johnson and one other.

The final decision then passes to Tory activists who will vote by post to elect the new party leader and Prime Minister.

Drama as Thai woman threatens suicide from a 20ft bridge

A woman, who apparently had a mental-health disorder, was rescued after she threatened to jump from a pedestrian bridge in front of the Criminal Court in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district on Thursday.

The Phaholyothin police were told that a woman was standing on the ledge of the bridge and threatening to jump.

Police and members the Poh Teck Tung Foundation found the 45-year-old woman standing outside the fence while holding the fence with both hands.

Col Chettha Sawangsuk, commander of Phaholyothin police, said the woman sounded confused, like she had a mental-health disorder.

She claimed police planted drugs on her and raised a false drugs charge.

Police closed the lane below and spent about half an hour trying to convince her to climb back.

A policeman and rescuer eventually grabbed her.

Chettha said she did not face any drug charges but she had faced three theft charges in 2013.

She was sent to a hospital to be evaluated by a psychiatrist before police decided whether to press charges for wasting everybody’s time.

Lace Shorts For Men Are Here To Keep You Chilled This Summer

Men’s fashion. Well, fashion in general. It’s a risky ol’ game, isn’t it?

Have you noticed all the chequered tailored trousers matched with a tan loafers knocking around recently? If you haven’t, please visit any pretentious bar you know and laugh your socks off (because how underrated are socks?). Well, let me introduce you to the next big thing – the lace short-shirt combo.

They sound pretty breezy, don’t they? Oh, and there’s also a jumpsuit as well.

You might be joking now but you won’t come July/August when every Tom, Dick and Harry are rocking them and feeling cool AF (in the most literal of ways).

Hologram City are the masterminds behind these lace two-pieces, they’re a company based in Los Angeles and have launched the lace see-through collection called ‘Lace Me Up’.

The cheeky garments come in pink, blue, purple, black and white. The colourful pieces along with the black version will set you back $42 (£32) for the shirt and the same for the shorts. That makes it $84 (£65) for the lot, barg?

The white one is a little cheaper at $38 (£29) for the shirt and $35 (£27) which makes the co-ord $73 (£57).

If none of those tickled your fancy maybe the black lacy jumpsuit will? At $74 (£58) with an elastic waist you can struggle to piss the night away.

The shirts feature a lace collar and clear buttons down the front. But it’s the shorts that really stand out – with not one… not two… but three pockets, they’re practical as well as enabling you to stand out from the crowd. What more could a guy want?

There’s a white metal zipper and a clear button with added waist band belt loops for extra comfort.

Head to toe see-through? This is devilish, isn’t it? But if you weren’t feeling daring enough to go nakey nakey nakey underneath what about finishing off this ensemble with a white tee?

Alternatively, if you really wanted to keep up with the rather unique look what about wearing the ASOS crop top?

Alternatively, get your chequered trousers back out and look like everyone else…

City government discusses monorail system

City government discusses monorail system to further develop Pattaya as a world-class tourist destination

On June 11th, 2019, city officials met in the early afternoon at City Hall to discuss plans for a light railway or monorail/tram project for Pattaya.

Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Ekkasing stated to the Pattaya news and other gathered press that the current plan is to have a state of the art transportation system in place to meet the high-speed train planned for the upcoming Bangkok Airports to Pattaya route.

Mr. Ekkasing stated that this would reduce pollution and traffic problems that the city is currently struggling with.

He stated two separate companies are currently developing plans and putting forward proposals that are expected to be completed by early next month, July 2019.

He did not name the specific companies when asked by The Pattaya news.

Mr. Ekkasing did, however, state that the budget for this project could be as much as 70 billion baht.

Mr. Ekkasing and city officials also displayed several pictures and concept artwork, as seen above, that show what this could look like for the city.

Thai social media users were mostly negative about the idea and said that there were other more pressing matters to resolve, such as the waste management and water management issues the city struggles from currently, before undertaking such an ambitious project.

70 Private hospitals medication 16,000% more than average cost

70 Private hospitals medication 16,000% more than average cost

This is to see how much the medication cost is truly at and the raw sale price from each private hospitals without the added numbers of other costs. The price will then be available for the consumer to see what they are paying for and exactly how much are they paying per pill. Such transparency also allows the consumers to know where their money is going in exchange for the medication and medical services that they are receiving.

This is to create a QR code system where customers can scan to see the prices before deciding whether to purchase their medication with the hospital or to ask for a prescription to purchase it themselves. From the past filing of medication prices that are added with other costs from private hospitals in Thailand, there have been medication sold at prices 300% to 16,000% higher than the average price.

From the inspection, there are at least 70 private hospitals that are charging consumers with higher than average medication prices. Some examples include cancer medication that is being sold at 200,000 to 800,000 THB per Pill. Furthermore, about 1,500 medications for general diseases are being sold above the average price, including medicine being sold at 16,000 THB per Pill. A good example is how paracetamol is being sold at 200 THB per Pill.

Consumers can file complaints with the Department of Internal Trade. The Department cannot control the prices for public hospitals that open special services outside of office hours charging consumers prices similar to private hospitals. This is because there are no laws that allow the department to do this, and there are other government sectors taking care of such cases.
