Pattaya overrun with domestic tourists over the past holiday weekend
Pattaya’s middle class can look back with satisfaction at the past Mahidol Day holiday weekend business, good business was done, which gives some hope for the residents of Pattaya.
Shrimp and oyster seller, Khun Kwanta Paphom, at the Naklua fish market was one of the happy fishmongers and said she was happy that tourists were returning to Pattaya to celebrate the first holiday weekend since Covid19 restrictions were eased again, many of them took a seafood dinner at Lan Po Market.
In fairness, I should mention that the Thai government nominated Naklua Fish Market as the East Thailand Fish Market and called on people to visit it during Mahidol Day holiday weekend, something that had never happened before this legal holiday.
A tourist from Bangkok, Kanda Intarasakul told a local reporter that she would like to go abroad on vacation, but she stayed in Bangkok due to the semi-lockdown, curfew and provincial quarantine requirements.
Now that the Thai government had promoted Naklua’s Lan Po Market, she decided to move into the country, taking her children to Pattaya. There they could play in the sea and buy cheap seafood.
