Police Lieutenant Colonel Wuttikarn Plongrong, held a small press conference yesterday about the raid of a local restaurant that happened yesterday morning.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Wuttikarn Plongrong, who is also deputy commissioner of police in Pattaya, the restaurant had regularly flouted three Covid19 measures.

These three offenses are alleged to include selling alcohol without authorization, illegally opening a nightlife venue, and violating Chonburi’s socially distancing contagious disease orders and other Covid-19 rules.

The location in question called Casanova Pub and Karaoke was managed by Mangkorn Sawangjit, according to Wuttikarn.

Lieutenant Colonel Wuttikarn said Pattaya police have requested the governor of Chonburi to close the venue permanently as an example to other companies that would dare to violate the current strict Covid19 nightlife rules.

Lieutenant Colonel Wuttikarn added that officials were aware that the current rules were not popular, but they did not make the rules and only enforced them. Legally, Thailand’s bars and nightlife must still technically be closed due to Covid19 measures taken by the national government. However, they have been allowed to temporarily convert to restaurants with many rules, including 11:00 closing time.

Banglamung district office will review Pattaya Police’s request to permanently close the site before forwarding it to the governor of Chonburi.
