Lockdown to end next week predicts Pattaya’s Dep Mayor
Good news is on its way, as Chonburi Officials petitioned the government on Saturday to downgrade the province to a coronavirus “orange zone” and then saw Pattaya’s deputy mayor predicting a more relaxed lockdown as Chonburi continues its consecutive days without any new Covid-19 cases
Sunday has been the third straight day without any reported new cases.
Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization President Wittaya Kunplome on Saturday posted on his personal Facebook account that the province’s Communicable Disease Commission had made a presentation to the Public Health Ministry justifying the drop to orange zone status.
Currently, Chonburi, Rayong, Trat, Chathaburi and Samut Sakhon are all in what is called “Deep Red Zones” and this is the strongest virus control restrictions. This also includes banning people from travelling to other provinces and meant that most businesses had to close.
In the last five of six days, there has only been the one recorded case and that was an illegal migrant worker that had been found during pro-active testing, however, no one else was infected.
Feb 1st will see many restrictions being lifted and will give residents of Chonburi a sigh of relief, however, even though this particular crisis had ended, we still need to be careful as there could be another outbreak said Manote.
