Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club welcome Ladies European Thailand Championship

Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club is in high gear to welcome the third edition of the Ladies European Thailand Championship which is scheduled to take place between June 20-23 at the prestigious golf course.

Supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund, Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club and Wangson Image Company Limited, the Ladies European Thailand Championship is co-sanctioned by Ladies European Tour (LET) and Thai Ladies Professional Golf Association (Thai LPGA) and offers a total prize money of 300,000 Euros (approximately Bt11 million).

The LET Thailand Championship, the 10th stop of the LET Tour in 2019 and the only one in this region, will be competed in a 72-hole stroke play format for four days. After 26 holes, only top 60 players will proceed to the weekend rounds.

Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club president Chanya Swangchitr says: “It’s a great honour that Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club will host this important ladies golf tournament for the third consecutive years. In the past two editions, history has been made in this tournament which bring a great deal good memories.”

Local players have dominated the event over the last couple of years. Teen sensation Atthaya Thitikul lifted up the trophy during the inaugural edition in 2017 and became the youngest ever winner on the Ladies European Tour at the age of 14 years, 4 months and 19 days. Twelve months later Kanyalak Preedasuttijit kept the honourary winner’s trophy on homesoil following a 15 stroke victory.

The LET Thailand Championship feature a total of 126 players, 70 from the LET rankings and 40 from the Thai LPGA rankings plus 14 through sponsor invites.
