A traffic cop who killed a female doctor in Bangkok with his heavy Ducati motorcycle last Friday entered the monastic community on Monday to make credit for his victim.
Corporal Norawich Buadok, 21, was ordained last Monday at the Pariwat Ratchasongkram Temple in Bangkok’s Yannawa district.
He said that he wanted to become a monk to earn money for Dr. Waraluck Supawatjariyakul, an ophthalmologist at the Chulalongkorn Eye Center of the Department of Ophthalmology of Chulalongkorn University Medical School.
The policeman hit the woman with his Ducati monster on a crosswalk on Phaya Thai Road in the Ratchathewi district. He has been charged on seven counts, including reckless driving resulting in death.
According to the media, his father would also have become a monk, both of whom do not intend to become laymen again.
Meanwhile, Dr. Waraluck’s closest relatives and relatives mourned on the second day of her funeral at the Phra Si Mahathat Wora Maha Viharn Temple in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district. She would have celebrated her 34th birthday yesterday.
Her father, Dr. Anirut Supawatjariyakul, said his daughter liked his cooking and that he prepared a beautiful birthday cake for her.
He said his family would not criticize the policeman’s decision to become a monk, and he would thank him for his services to his daughter.
The police will work on the case and there should be no deviation from their procedures.
“Let’s finish the ceremony. I don’t want to comment on my belief in the Thai justice system at this time,” Waraluck’s father said.
