Pregnant woman on train near Hua Hin arrested with 48,480 methamphetamine pills in her possession

Police arrested a pregnant woman at the Hua Hin train station earlier this week after she was allegedly in possession of a bag containing 48,480 methamphetamine pills.

According to the police, the pills had an estimated street value of 5 million baht.

The 26-year-old woman from Udon Thani told police she was five months pregnant. She said she was paid to transport the drugs to an address in Surat Thani. The woman said she needed the money to pay for prenatal care and to cover the cost of giving birth to her child.

The woman said her boyfriend is currently in prison for drug offences. The woman was taken to the Hua Hin Police Station and formally charged with illegal possession of a Category 1 drug.

Meanwhile, Hua Hin police also announced on Sunday the arrest of a 45-year-old local man in possession of 5 methamphetamine tablets.

The man, who lives in Thap Thai, was detained by officers after he was found outside at 12:20 p.m. – in violation of the curfew. According to the police, the man had hidden the pills in his shoe.

He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a Category 1 drug, driving a car in possession of a Category 1 drug and violating Article 9 of the Royal Decree on curfews.
