Prime Minister Prayut fined for not wearing a face mask!

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was fined 6,000 Baht for not wearing a face mask during a meeting with his vaccine procurement advisers.

The city council of Bangkok yesterday made it mandatory to wear a mouth mask in the capital. The wearing of a mouth mask is also mandatory in a vehicle in which more than one person is seated, even if the occupants belonging to the same family. The ordinance is part of the city’s measures to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Bangkok’s governor, Khun Assawin Kwangmuang, has filed a lawsuit against the prime minister with the police after Prayut was criticized on social media.

He was sitting at the conference table around 11 am yesterday morning without nose and mouth protection, while all other participants were wearing protection.

He told the prime minister that everyone in the capital must wear a face mask at all times when they are out of the house.

An offence leads to a fine of up to 20,000 baht under section 51 of the Disease Control Act 2015. Since this was the first time the prime minister did not wear a face mask, he only had to pay 6000 baht.
