The body of a Russian tourist was found in central Pattaya, probably killed by a fall from a power pole

At 3 a.m. on January 5, the body of a foreigner was found in front of Pattaya Police Station on Beach Road. The man is believed to have suffered fatal injuries after falling from a power pole, the Bangkok Post reported.

The dead man turned out to be 38-year-old Russian citizen Stanislav Kosogin. The Russian man’s body was found on a concrete block placed on the pavement supporting a power pole in front of the Pattaya police station.

The man allegedly sustained a bleeding head injury and also broke his leg as a result of the fall.

The 14-year-old eyewitness told police he was walking with friends nearby when he heard a thud as if something had fallen to the ground. Turning around, the boy saw a foreigner lying on a concrete platform, bleeding from his head.

According to police, an initial examination of the body revealed burn marks on the palms of both hands, presumably from electrical wires. The Russian is believed to have climbed a power pole and was electrocuted.

Police will examine CCTV footage to ascertain the details of the incident. The man’s body has been taken to hospital to establish the true cause of death.
