Russians arrested in Pattaya for alleged sale of false bank statements for retirement visas

Police in Pattaya have arrested a Russian man and woman for allegedly creating false bank documents for retirement visas and selling the fraudulent paperwork to other foreigners.

According to police, the suspects sold the fake documents to foreigners who, according to Thai law, did not have enough money in their bank account for a retirement visa, police said.

Retirement visa applicants must have 800,000 baht in their bank account for at least 2 months before applying or have a monthly income of 65,000 baht.

The suspects are, 59-year-old Irina Prokasheva and 63-year-old Alexey Luptov, and allegedly sold the false bank statements for about 2,000 baht to those who did not meet the financial requirements for the visa.

According to the police, Irina and Alexey sold the fake documents to other Russian nationals through a social media platform in the UK. Police say they got the documents from someone in Russia.

Agents from the fight against transnational criminals and the illegal immigrant center worked with the Pattaya police to bring about this arrest. According to Pattaya News, they have seized Thai notes, copies of passports and fake certificates from a bank in Russia.

Irina and Alexey were arrested on charges of working without a work permit, producing false documents, and running a business without a permit. They are deported after the legal proceedings.
