Shopper removes underwear to use as face mask in supermarket
It is normal for some people to forget their face mask at home while venturing outside.
When a shopper was told that she would not be served without a mask in a supermarket, she decided to use her underwear as a makeshift mask.
A video of the incident reported from a Pick n Pay supermarket in South Africa has gone viral on social media.
In the video, a security guard can be seen asking the woman waiting with her cart at the checkout queue, to put her face mask on, saying that she would not be allowed to carry on shopping if she did not follow the COVID-19 safety measures.
The woman quickly reaches under her dress and removes her underwear to place it on her face as a makeshift mask.
Some people in the video can be heard saying, “What’s going on?” and “Good Lord”. And one female shopper that was standing just behind the said, “Well, personally, I find it acceptable: It is a mask. And quite frankly, I think the bacteria on your knickers is less than on the mask. Well done to you.” She claps while adding, “Brilliant.”
The video has gone viral across social media.
This is not the first time that someone has used their knickers as a face cover.
In May last year, a woman in Ukraine removed her underwear and popped it on her head to get served at a post office.
