Stoned man arrested who threatened members of the Pheu Thai group in Bangkok
Bangkok police have accused a man of threatening members of the Pheu Thai party when they were handing out masks and hand sanitisers in the capital.
Agents from Tha Phra Police Station arrested Khun Ronnarong Suntriyaporn, 42, in a house at 4 Soi Jaransantiwong, Bangkok Yai District, for alleged drug use and attempted sexual assault.
The arrest came after residents of the Wat Tha Phra community warned police that a drunk man threatened people with a knife and caused quite a stir.
The incident culminated as a group of five Pheu Thai members went door to door and shared free Covid prevention materials.
“We knocked on the door of a house, which was later revealed to be Ronnarong’s girlfriend, and he opened the door,” said one of Pheu Thai members.
“He looked intoxicated, grabbed a knife and chased us as we ran.”
After the group took the stroll slats, Khun Ronnarong reportedly ran back into the house and locked himself up. The police arrived and it took about two hours to get him to surrender. There were no reports of injuries from the incident.
Police say they found 1.92 grams of methamphetamine and drug use equipment in Ronnarong’s possession. He was taken to the police station for a drug test and has been charged with several offences.
