  • Man robs bank then goes for some ice cream and gets arrested.

A man went to rob a bank, he felt out of breath and hot so he stopped for some ice cream before entering a building where the police arrested him, maybe if he skipped the ice cream break and went straight into hiding he wouldn’t have ended up in jail so quickly.

Police Captain Van Jitjaruwong from the Chai Nat City Police was notified of a bank robbery on the 27th of this month (August 2019) at a local Government Savings bank in Chai Nat. When the police arrived they checked the security footage and discovered that the robber was a man dressed in a gray shirt, long black pants and a mask covering his face.

The robber walked into the bank with his hand behind his back, acting as if he was holding a gun. He told the girl at the bank counter “I have no choice, give me the money”. The bank girl kept her cool and tried to pull some time. She told the man to walk into another room and took the opportunity when he was not looking to press the emergency button.

The man realized what the girl did so he forced her to give him money. She handed 16,000 THB cash that was in the drawer. The man ran out of the bank with the money to a mall 300 meters away from the bank. The Chainat Police surrounded the area and successfully arrested the suspect hiding in a building.

The man entered the building and told the people inside that he needed to use the toilet. He then climbed to the top of the building in an attempt to hide the cash. Pakpoom 26 years old stated that he borrowed his friend’s truck for the robbery.

He was carrying no weapon with him, but he pretended like he was hiding a gun to make the bank girl scared. When he finished robbing the bank he felt out of breath and hot so he went to buy an ice cream to cool off before entering the building where he was arrested by the Chai nat Police.

Pakpoom stated that he has a debt of 400,000 THB from online gambling. When he was driving the truck, he had no clear destination in mind nor did he have an idea of what to do. Then when he drove past the Government’s Saving Banks branch in Chai Nat City he saw that there weren’t many people inside. He decided on the spot to rob the bank to pay his online gambling debt.

  • Tollway water pipe falls on road below, motorcycle driver almost dies.

A tollway water pipe used to drain water from the tollway fell down onto the road below. The motorbike driver who almost lost his life to the accident posted his experience on Facebook yesterday (28 August 2019). The tollway was at Rama 9 road where a water pipe attached under the tollway had fallen. The water pipe has been cleared out by the city authorities.

A man was in great danger while he was driving his motorbike as usual down Rama 9 road when the large metal water pipe dropped down right in front of him on the road. Luckily, the man was aware of his surroundings and changed the lanes right away. If he was driving any faster, it is a nightmare just to think about the possibilities of being hit by a metal pipe this size.

It is estimated that the cause is trapped mud inside the pipe. The mud must have been extremely heavy and caused the pipe to come apart from the tollway. A Facebook user named Chaimongkol Khantura stated in his post “Who would have thought. Even in my dream, I’m still shaking. I saw Buddha and my parents’ faces flash before my eyes. After I parked my bike I stood on the road shaking, wondering how I survived. I don’t even want to think about it.

I almost died, if I didn’t die then …. I was just driving my motorbike as usual. The water pipe from the Rama 9 tollway suddenly dropped onto the road below right before Soi Rong Poon on the right. It dropped right in front of me and if I was driving any faster then I’d be done. I made such a sudden turn that saved my life, my heart was at my feet. Thank you to all higher power that saved me today. I’m haunted #fallenwaterpipe #rama9tollway #drivecarefully”

The city authorities have cleaned up the fallen pipe and they will be checking other water pipes in the area to make sure that such an incident does not happen again.

  • Teacher snips student hair, gives the kid 120 to not tell mom.

The story was shared by a Facebook Page online named “Education for Liberation of Siam” aimed towards positively developing the education system in Thailand along with providing students with the rights that they deserve. A teacher in Khon Kaen Province cut a grade 7 student’s hair in right above his head on the 23rd of this month (August 2019) leaving a visible mark.

The student in this incident has a burn scar on his face, he is already struggling with self-confidence and the teacher snipped his hair without thinking of how it would affect the student. Other teachers at the same school strongly disagree with the teacher’s action but none confronted the teacher with fear of getting themselves in trouble.

The group stated in the post “We received this complaint about a grade 7 student in Khon Kaen who got his hair snipped above his face. The child already has issues with the burn scar on his face. The teacher’s action made the boy’s self-esteem even worse.”

After the Facebook Page shared the story they were contacted by the school to delete the post. The Page refused to take the post down as it felt like the school was trying to protect the teacher, not the student who was embarrassed in front of all his friends.

The boy was given 120 THB from the teacher who cut his hair. The teacher told him to not tell his parents about what happened to his hair or who did it. This is a shocking detail as her attempt to bribe the boy with money shows that she realized what she did was wrong on some level.

Cutting a student’s hair is a violation of the regulations established by the Ministry of Education. The Page believes that such action is a violation and illegal in terms of violating human rights. Not only did it bring shame to the boy, but the shorter hair will also reveal more of the burn scar on the boy’s face, giving him more self-esteem issues that will require time healing in the future.
