Thai Immigration Service Announces Further Extension of ‘COVID Extensions’

The Thai Immigration Bureau announced today that foreigners who remain in Thailand due to the Covid19 situation will have until almost the end of January next year to renew their residence permits to stay in the kingdom.

It was expected that the so-called ‘Covid extensions’ would no longer be available as Thailand and other countries reopen their borders to tourists.

But under a new order dated November 24, 2021, foreigners can apply for a Covid extension until January 25, 2022.

Since this is a 60-day extension, a stay in the country is essentially granted until March 26, 2022.

These regulations will once again be welcomed by those people who need or want to stay longer in Thailand due to the Covid19 situation.

Anyone whose temporary extension is due to expire is advised to go to the local immigration office for a further extension. The extension costs 1,900 baht.

Special thanks to the Thai Visa Center for the information.
