A Thai man has been arrested in Bangkok and accused of raping many young women he met through dating apps and then blackmailing them with videos of the sex.
The man named Khun Ratchaphol Jinda, a 26-year-old salesman from Samut Prakan, was wanted on 3 warrants for rape, attempted rape and extortion. So far, at least 10 women have signed up with complaints against the man.
Police caught up with the alleged rapist in a parking lot of a shopping centre in the Ram Intra area of Bangkok’s Khannayao district and he was arrested yesterday by police officers from the Crime Suppression Division. According to the CSD superintendent who led the investigation and arrest, Ratchaphol confessed to the crimes during questioning.
The inspector said they suspect more than 30 women are because of him, but so far only 10 have made a formal complaint.
This arrest comes just days after another man in Bangkok was arrested and charged with raping 36 women under knife threat.
Ratchaphol reportedly hunted for young students, if they were not older than 25, all studying at local universities.
