Thai man claims to have lost one million baht when his car caught fire in Pattaya, reportedly on his way to bank

A million baht in cash, or converted more than € 26,000 – went up in flames after a passenger car in Pattaya caught fire while the motorist was on his way to the bank.

The Pattaya fire brigade was notified of the accident at 12:30 yesterday. on Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya, opposite the Makro.

The firefighters arrived with a fire truck with “Snelle Jelle” our local reporter in their suite, to discover that Nissan Teana was on fire.

It took more than ten minutes to get the fire under control and the vehicle was a total loss, as shown in the picture below.


The 24-year-old driver, Kun Jirayus Amnuayborisut, told a local reporter “I was on my way to the bank to make a deposit. There was black smoke from under the hood, when I got out to see what was going on, the flames exploded under the hood. ”

“I tried to grab my bag with one million baht and a cell phone, but it was too late, said the 24-year-old unlucky person.

Chonburi forensic police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of the fire and have not confirmed or denied Jirayus’ statements about the loss of one million baht in cash in the fire.

Khun Jirayus did not comment on whether the money was insured… or not!
