Thai protest leader arrested outside Bangkok police station

Thai protest leader Jatupat Boonpathararaksa alias “Pai Daodin” was arrested yesterday during a meeting outside the Narcotics Control Bureau. This modest protest demanded the release of protesters arrested during anti-government demonstrations last Sunday.

Jatupat and a group of protesters from the “Talu Fah” group gathered outside the NSB office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, where some of those arrested are behind bars. They were met by three companies of riot police deployed outside the NSB office.

The protesters sprayed paint on a wall, a fence and the road before being detained and taken away in a police vehicle.

General Piya Tawichai, the deputy. The Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner said 11 people had been arrested during last Sunday’s protests and transferred to Border Patrol Police Division 1 in the Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani.

The suspects were charged with, among other things, violating the emergency decree, the law to combat infectious diseases and the traffic law.
