After years of strict restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, travelers looking to visit Thailand are glad the country has finally eased travel restrictions. Here’s what you need to know and prepare before traveling to Thailand this year, from vaccinations to travel insurance.

Are vaccinations and Covid-19 tests required to enter Thailand?

According to Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, foreign travelers no longer need to show proof of vaccination upon arrival in Thailand.

Also, no longer need to obtain a certificate to enter Thailand or to download any mobile applications. Moreover, you also do not need to present ATC or PCR test results to enter Thailand.

However, if you have symptoms of Covid-19 upon arrival, airport staff may recommend that you be tested for Covid-19 upon arrival.

Do I need Coovid-19 insurance to enter Thailand?

You do not need health insurance with Coovid-19 treatment coverage to enter Thailand. However, having travel and medical insurance is highly recommended for additional protection during your trip.

Caution! if you are arriving from or traveling to a country that requires a negative PCR test result, you must have health insurance of at least $10,000 to cover possible Covid-19 treatment if you test positive during your stay in thailand.

Quarantine officers may randomly check for insurance. If officers find that you do not have it, it will be necessary to purchase health insurance to pass immigration control.

Why does Thailand offer a free Covid-19 test?

Thailand is ready to welcome all visitors with open arms. However, some countries, such as China and India, may require a negative PCR test before allowing visitors into the country, including their citizens returning home. To comply with these regulations, Thailand offers free Covid-19 tests and provides vaccinations to willing foreign tourists at reasonable prices.

How long can tourists stay in the country on a tourist visa?

As Thailand fully opens its doors to tourism, the country offers a longer period of stay for visitors. Since March 31, 2023, visitors from visa-free countries can stay in the country for 45 days. Those who qualify for a visa on arrival can stay for 30 days.

Do I need to book a hotel or confirm an address?

The answer is definitely yes! If you are planning a trip to the Land of Smiles, be sure to have your documents ready. It’s important that you have your hotel reservation and/or proof of address handy when you enter the country. After all, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Now that you know what you need to enter Thailand, there’s no reason not to start packing your bags and planning your adventure.
