Thailand signs contract to buy Hermes 900 drones from Israel

Thailand has signed a contract to buy Israeli-made Hermes 900 drones

The contract is worth 4 billion baht ($107.7 million), according to the Thai Defense Ministry website. It is not known how many drones will be purchased, but it is planned to buy them over four years, from 2022 to 2025.

The drones in Thailand will be used to patrol the sea, protect the country’s maritime sovereignty and shipping lanes, and assist in rescue operations at sea.

The Hermes 900 is a medium-sized UAV capable of flying for more than 36 hours at altitudes up to 9,100 meters. It can carry a maximum payload of 350 kilograms.
