A Thai woman was arrested in the Land of Smiles yesterday for running an illegal dental clinic in a parking lot in front of a shopping mall in Bangkok from her car.

Employees of the police’s consumer protection department, called the CPPD, were tipped off about the illegal dental clinic after a promotion appeared on Thailand’s social media.

The fake clinic, called “Fashionable Brace Shop”, was run by nurse Ploy from Sai Tai Mai Bus Station (จัดฟันแฟชั่น พี่พลอยสายใต้ใหม่).

A police officer masquerading as a patient made an appointment with the dental hobbyist, 29-year-old Pornteera, in the parking lot of the shopping center in Bangkok’s Taling Chan neighbourhood. Pornteera charged 2500 baht for the fake braces, which is much cheaper than the usual 30,000 baht from a professional dentist.

Pornteera was promptly arrested in the parking lot as she drove to her work car in her luxury limousine. The officer who arrested her also confiscated her dental kits, worth more than 50,000 baht.

Pornteera stated that her services started from 1,000 baht and that she earns between 30,000 and 40,000 baht per month. She announced that she also has a shop at Sai Tai Mai Market in Taling Chan district. She added that she serves her customers in the store and in her car when it is not easy for customers to come to the store

According to a report by Channel 8, Pornteera has been accused of violating the rules of the Consumer Protection Agency of Thailand by selling banned products, such as B. Sold fake and fashionable braces.

The illegal dentist faces up to three years in prison and a fine of up to 600,000 baht.
