Thailand’s capital is getting ready to welcome foreign visitors from February 1

As you have learned in passed reports the country will reopen to foreign travelers from February 1 under the “Test & Go” scheme, although some changes have been made this time around.

Under the new setup, tourists will be required to isolate for five days and undergo RT-PCR testing on the first and fifth days. They must also provide proof of prepayment for the tests, as well as payment for five days of accommodation in a government-approved SHA hotel or alternative quarantine (AQ).

Tourists arriving under the Test & Go scheme are also required to show proof of health insurance.

Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has inspected restaurants and entertainment venues that have been turned into eateries. In the meantime, the BMA is also looking for night locations that may be operating illegally.

Authorities have also ordered district offices to have entertainment venues, pubs, bars, and karaoke tents that intend to operate as restaurants take all preventive measures and receive SHA+ or Thai Stop Covid 2 Plus certification.

These establishments will first be assessed by relevant district offices before being allowed to operate.
