Thailand’s state of emergency has been extended until May 31

At a cabinet meeting held yesterday, the CCSA’s administrative center for Covid19 containment proposed to extend the state of emergency, which was due to expire on March 31, by two months, so that the state of emergency would govern Thailand until May 31. a news source said.

The extension of the emergency decree aims to enable health authorities to control the spread of the Covid19 virus in an efficient and continuous manner.

The cabinet also approved CCSA’s proposal on disease control measures during the 2022 Songkran Festival to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The measures are as follows:
*Vaccinated people are allowed to travel between provinces to visit their relatives during Songkran holidays (April 13-17).
*People in risk groups or with symptoms similar to the Covid19 virus are advised to take the ATK test 72 hours before traveling or participating in Songkran activities.
*All Songkran activities must be organized in designated areas approved by the provincial Communicable Diseases Committee, while organizers must strictly follow the Covid Free Setting practice.
*Splashing water, face powders, and foam parties are prohibited in public areas.
Selling or drinking alcohol is prohibited in Songkran’s areas of activity.
