Pattaya City Council has begun work on a five-year development plan, the first plan for a post-pandemic world, as so beautifully described.

Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome chaired this week’s meeting during which the first draft of the development plan for 2023-27 was discussed, but which is currently no more than a sketch.

Pattaya’s five-year plans are normally updated every year, but none were written last year when the coronavirus plunged the country into the abyss. Now city leaders must toss the 2019 master plan in the trash and assess the damage and appropriate changes the pandemic has wrought on the city’s economy, education system and environment.

Nevertheless, because the new plan has five important points, these consist of:

  • Improve quality of life and safety for everyone?
  • Upgrading the efficiency of the infrastructure in support of the EEC.
  • Promoting balance and environmentally friendly economic innovations.
  • Sustainable management of natural resources and the environment?
  • Upgrading Pattaya’s management to a powerful digital organization.
