Chonburi authorities and foundations have agreed to offer 354,400 baht each to the families of the 15 people who died in the Mountain B nightclub fire last Friday.
The fire at the unlicensed nightlife in the Sattahip district also injured 41 others.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, the operation of the venue as a licensed-only restaurant, and illegal alterations to the building.
the pl. Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong said several government agencies and foundations had agreed to make contributions to help the families of the deceased. The contributing agencies and foundations are the Sattahip Municipal Office, the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, the Chonburi Justice Provincial Office, the Chonburi Social Development and Human Security Office, the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation, the Sawang Rojana Thammasathan Foundation, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and the Ngek Sian Hong Te Shrine. The compensation offered also includes 50,000 baht per person offered by the nightclub owner.
Naris added that victims who had taken out life insurance or social security will also receive compensation as stated.
the pl. Governor added that the ‘ad hoc’ set up administration center for fire victims will be closed so that officials can resume their normal duties.
