The first three contracts for the high-speed train project between Bangkok and Nong Khai were signed yesterday.

The transportation project marks a new phase of cooperation between Thailand and China, in which the country’s railways will be an important link in the region’s rail network.

The contracts were signed by representatives of the State Railways of Thailand and the private companies selected for the planned work.

The contracts signed yesterday are the 4-3 contract for civil engineering works along the Nava Nakhon-Ban Pho section worth 11.5 billion baht, the 4-4 contract for the construction of a maintenance depot in Chiang Rak Noi worth 6.5 billion baht and the 4-6 rail construction contract along the Phra Kaew-Saraburi section worth 9.4 billion baht.
