The popular annual Pattaya Marathon has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to Covid19 measures.

The popular marathon, which normally attracts thousands of runners from around the world and is a major event for the city, and is estimated to bring in millions of baht in sports tourism, will be cancelled, Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Khunpluem said.

The mayor and organizers of the marathon expressed regret that the event was cancelled for the second year in a row, knowing how many runners and fans love to attend the event annually.

The coastal city of Pattaya is still designated as a Covid19 red zone due to the daily number of Covid19 infections, which has banned all events gathering more than fifty people. Unfortunately, as the marathon attracts more than ten thousand people every year, the event fell victim to the current restrictions.

The letter, in Thai, regarding the cancellation I have shown below for you.
