The Thai bus company Transport Co. will deploy 5,000 additional bus journeys during the coming Songkran period

The state-run inter-provincial bus company Transport Company will offer an additional 5,000 bus trips per day during the six-day Songkran vacation from April 10-15.

The director of the bus company, Khun Sanyalak Panyawatthanalikhit, estimates that approximately 110,000 passengers a day will use the Mo Chit 2 bus station in Chatuchak district of Bangkok to travel to their hometowns during the Thai New Year holiday.

About 70 percent of the bus tickets to the north and northeast during Songkran have already been reserved.

Khun Sanyalak recommends travelers book online to avoid the crowds at the bus station. The police have been asked to help regulate the flow of traffic in and out of the terminal and ensure the safety of passengers waiting for buses.

The bus company will prepare preventive measures against Covid-19, including mandatory wearing of masks, thermal scanner checkpoints, and social distance on all lines.
