A man arrested for allegedly murdering a Swiss tourist in Phuket has been charged with theft and causing death, Police Chief General Suwat Jangyodsuk told the press.
As is already known, the body of a 57-year-old Swiss woman was found on Thursday near the Ton Ao Yon waterfall in Tambon Vichit in Phuket’s main district.
General Suwat said the suspect, a 27-year-old Thai man, was arrested yesterday after being seen on CCTV near the crime scene.
“Police have already filed a theft charge and a murder charge against a suspect. The results of forensics and autopsy are needed before a rape charge can be filed,” he said.
“Clear evidence is needed to acknowledge the defendant’s real intent, as his testimony was only partially reliable.”
Now that General was on the island, he took the opportunity to speak with Phuket’s government authorities about tightening up security for tourists.
