SOUTH THAILAND: The administrative centre for Covid19 containment, the CCSA, is concerned about the coronavirus situation in the deep south as the infection rate in four southern provinces are reported to be as high as in the capital, assistant spokesman Dr Apisamai Srirangsan known.

The four southern provinces — Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala and Songkhla — yesterday reported 1,968 cases of Covid-19 out of a nationwide total of 9,930 new cases, or 21 per cent, which is the same rate in Bangkok and the metropolitan region.

Vaccination coverage in the four provinces is still low, as it turns out. About 22 per cent of Narathiwat residents are fully vaccinated, with about 19 per cent in Pattani and 28 per cent in Yala and Songkhla, which is far below the 50 per cent target.

The cumulative number of vaccinations (February 28 – October 3) is 55,150,481 doses in 77 provinces – 32,987,918 of them received the first dose, 20,696,791 received the second dose and 1,465,772 received the third dose. have got.
