Thousands of motorcycles seized at road races in Thailand

More than 19,000 motorcycles and more than 100 cars have been seized and 922 people have been arrested amid a recent 10-day nationwide crackdown on road racing, the plv said. Police Chief General Damrongsak Kittiprapat announced to the press.

General Damrongsak, head of the Center for Combating Illegal Road Races, said the operation was conducted from November 11 to 20 in areas under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police Bureau and provincial police regions 1-9.

He said 922 people had been arrested for racing or reckless driving on public roads and their parents or guardians, 2,575 in total, had been fined.

A total of 26,670 shops that modify vehicles and sell equipment for modifications were searched and 3,382 illegally modified exhaust systems were seized. Legal action has been taken against 182 of the stores.

Police seized a total of 19,046 motorcycles and 18 cars during the operation, he said.

Thirteen website administrators were accused of supporting illegal races.
