Two men and a young man have been arrested after they allegedly threw a grenade at a Lumpini police car at the Ratchaprasong intersection Monday morning. Another person involved in the incident managed to escape his arrest.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. yesterday while Lumpini police were on duty at Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong intersection. Four men on a motorcycle pulled up from Pratunam Intersection and headed toward the Sala Daeng intersection. When the motorcycle reached the intersection, one of the passengers allegedly threw a bomb-like object at the police car and made it through Ratchadamri Road, trying to escape the long arm of the police.

The police chased the group of perpetrators who tried to flee along Sarasin Road through the intersections Witthayu and Rama IV. Police were able to arrest three of them at the entrance to Soi Sukhumvit 97/1, while the other disappeared into thin air.

Initially, the perpetrators are Pichai, 30, the driver, Naruebeth, 26, and an 18-year-old boy who was reportedly taken to Lumpini Police Station in the same police car.

The perpetrators also possessed marbles with a slingshot and an artificial explosive-like object, and are being held for further investigation.
