Tip leads a couple to be arrested in Bangkok for sending 490 grams of meth to Australia
A Nigerian man and his Thai girlfriend were allegedly trying to ship crystal meth to Australia after being tipped off to police.
The couple was arrested Friday night for allegedly trying to deliver a shipment to a private postal drop-off point.
The Nigerian man was identified as Obimma Anthony and the Thai woman is Marisa Noipitak. The couple was arrested by the police at the drop-off point with a package containing the drugs in tubes.
Authorities were first tipped off the couple by the Airport Interdiction Task Force at Suvannabhumi Airport after picking up a suspicious package on Aug. 4. A sleeping pillow for one Monk, filled with crystal meth, a total of 490 grams.
After the police took them into custody, they also searched the couple’s homes, Anthony’s home in Samut Prakan province and Marisa’s apartment in Bang Kapi. They found 89 grams of crystal meth, 82 grams of cocaine and 35 grams of heroin in Anthony’s house and 985 grams of crystal meth in Marisa’s apartment.
The Nigerian man and his Thai girlfriend are now being held by the Narcotics Suppression Division 3. They have been charged with illegal drug possession and police are investigating the case further.
