#1 Osaka Station Fountain – Clock, Osaka, Japan

Nothing can really prepare you when seeing this fountain in Japan, Osaka for the first time. Located in the South Gate Building of the new Osaka Station City complex. It is a large rectangluar water fountain that displays the time amoungst multiple other beautiful designs. It was desgined by a local Osaka firm Koei Industry. The fountain almost works as if its printing shapes using gravity and water.

#2 ‘Nine Floating Fountains’, Osaka, Japan

The Nine Floating Fountains were designed and created by a Japanese American artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi’s. They were designed for the World Expo event held in Osaka, Japan in the year 1970. We think they’re beautiful, they look as if they’re floating, some other people say they almost look like square jellyfish.

A renovation project of the Grandmall Park, a 700 meter long park located at the center of Minato Mirai 21. Designated a “Future City” by the Japanese government, Yokohama city decided on the theme “Green x Smart Park” in constructing this city park. One main feature is vertical “water circulation” created between the sky, plants, permeable surfacing, and the expansive crushed stone water retention layer located underground.

#5 Hakone Gora Park, Japan Water Fountain.

Gora Park (強羅公園) is Japan’s first French style garden opened in the 3rd year of the Taisho era (1914). It features a large fountain at the center with various seasonal flowers such as roses, azaleas, hydrangeas, wisteria, bougainvillea, peony, as well as cherry blossoms scattered around the garden. The garden is surrounded by wide sky and mountains which makes it a very relaxing place.

Goths aren’t the only ones who can enjoy a stroll through a cemetery! Nagoyama is a pleasant little hill cemetery of the Buddhist faith which includes a rad little shrine on top. A great place for a hanami party! No joke, it’s rarely crowded and offers plenty of green space for your picnic purposes along with sakura trees.

#8 Sail-Shapped Fountain in Nakanoshima, Japan

The Nakanoshima Park is the first public park opened by Osaka in 1891, after its foundation as a city. It is located in Kita ward, on the Nakanoshima sandbank, lying between Dōjima and Tosabori Rivers. The fountain shoots water into the river surrounded by illuminated cherry blossom trees. A wonderful place to visit, especially at night.
