It has been reported that domestic tourist bookings in Pattaya have increased a whopping 30 percent thanks to the recent weekends and holidays.

However, 30 percent of very little still isn’t enough to restore the deserted city.

With all this said, businesses that have remained open are now urging the Thai government to provide 70 percent of the Thai vaccine to people in Pattaya before letting in vaccinated foreign tourists back into the city

The consultant of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association Mr. Sinchai Wattanasathorn told The Pattaya News.

“The number of tourists who visited Pattaya last year at this time just before the first shutdown due to Covid19 is almost the same as this year’s number.”

“There are many more tourists visiting Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach during the past weekend, giving hope to business operators for the future.” Sinchai continued.

“Pattaya area hotels reported a thirty percent increase recently in overall room bookings as opposed to February. However, most customers have booked five star hotel rooms as the room prices have been significantly decreased to attract customers.” Sinchai explained.

“The Thai government should provide at least 70 percent of Thai people vaccines before welcoming foreign tourists who have a ‘Vaccine Passport’ later this year.” Sinchai stated.

“We are willing to help purchase some of the Covid – 19 vaccines from the private sector if the price is not very high.” Sinchai concluded.

The Thai Government has stated that the first batches of Covid19 vaccines would not be allowed for private purchase but as supplies increase the government would look again at places like Phuket and Pattaya who wish to purchase vaccines for their own residents to hopefully speed up bringing back foreign tourists
