Tourist breaks into a bank in Northern Thailand and wreaks havoc

A foreign tourist broke into a branch of the Bangkok Bank in Pai in the northern province of Mae Hong Son last night. He made his way by smashing several glass doors with rocks, causing significant damage to the bank. The police arrested him and discovered that he was illegally staying in the kingdom.

A foreigner named, Mr. Kent Douglas Meades – nationality unknown – broke into Pai’s Bangkok Bank around 7 p.m. last night. He smashed 2 glass security doors at the bank entrance, 4 more glass doors, 3 computer monitors, 2 desk walls, and 1 printer.

A passer-by filmed the man removing rocks from his motorcycle and throwing it to the bank, but was afraid to intervene for fear of the man’s violent and bizarre behaviour.

It wasn’t long before police Mr. Kent was found on a public road around 7:14 PM and took him to Pai Police Station for questioning. Kent admitted to breaking into the bank and vandalizing the property, but wouldn’t say what his motive was. He didn’t steal any money. The police found a total of 25 stones in the man’s motorcycle.

Police checked Kent’s passport to discover that he was illegally staying in the kingdom. He previously had a one-month tourist visa that expired on April 17, 45 days prior to the incident.

Police said nothing like this has ever happened in Pai, a popular tourist destination in northern Thailand.
