Two men arrested in deadly Pattani bombing

The Thai army has arrested two Thai men on suspicion of involvement in Wednesday’s bombing in the Mayo district that killed a ranger and injured three others.

The arrest of the two men was announced tonight by the Network of Affected People from Emergency Law (JASAD).

According to the network, paramilitary rangers and police arrived with four pickup trucks around noon on Wednesday and surrounded an area in Tambon Sakam in the Mayo district.

She detained two men for questioning, 33-year-old Khun Ibrohim Ma, an employee of the tambon administrative organization who lives in Moo 2 village, and 27-year-old Muhammad-khonafi Samae, a rubber tapper from Moo 4 village.

The arrest team seized a Samsung phone from Ibrohim and an iPhone from Muhammad.

After their homes were searched, the two men were taken to the Mayo Police Station for questioning. They were later transferred to the Ingkhayutthaboriharn military camp in Pattani’s Nong Chik district, JASAD said.

The network called on those involved to treat the two detainees with respect for their human rights.

On Wednesday morning, a paramilitary ranger was killed and three others injured in a bomb explosion while en route to repair a water pump near their base in the Mayo district.

Earlier reports said that four rangers had been injured by the bomb.
