Unidentified man takes fire at Pathum Thani hospital and kills 54-year-old Covid19 patient
An unidentified man reportedly fired multiple shots through a glass door at Thanyarak Hospital in Pathum Thani, then proceeded to the patient wing where he encountered a man just coming out of the bathroom and shot him before he was released from the hospital fled.
Police from Pratunam Chulalongkorn station, were notified of the incident at 3:20 a.m. this morning, and rushed to the crime scene – the ground floor of the 5-storey building that had been converted into a Covid-19 treatment centre patients – and found the remains of the man who had been shot in front of the bathroom in the patient’s wing.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was a 54-year-old Covid19-p patient. The cause of death has yet to be investigated as officials are required to prepare PPE suits as a precaution.
CCTV footage at the hospital showed the gunman, believed to be 40-50 years old, wearing a camouflage jacket, black trousers and a red beret, holding a pistol in his right hand.
After the shooting, the gunman fled in a white Toyota Vigo pickup and used the outbound Phahonyothin Road as an escape route.
Police are tracking him with extra caution, as the suspect is still armed with the weapon.
