At a meeting of 35 foreign chambers of commerce, the CO government was unanimously asked to give priority to vaccinating foreign businessmen and foreign workers and their families.

According to the chairman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce Thailand, Mr Stanley Kang, there are 500,000 foreign businessmen and their families in the kingdom and two million foreign workers and their families.

Those two and a half million people should be prioritized and vaccinated by the end of the third quarter by October. The Kang called for vaccine registration to be organized using passports and visas, rather than work permits so that the families of foreigners or women and men over 60 would also be registered.

The chairman went on to say that there is a consensus that Thailand is a great country to live and invest in, but that the bureaucracy faced by overseas companies had to be dismantled to make the country more competitive against ASEAN rivals.

The meeting called for an upgrade of the Board of Investment’s privileges and discussed extending social security to foreigners working and living in Thailand.
