A video showing Jada Pinkett-Smith and 2Pac dancing to the Will Smith track Parents Just Don’t Understand is currently going viral on social media. The video has been around for some time but has been back in the spotlight since the infamous Oscar incident.
Jada Pinkett-Smith has spoken extensively in the past about her close friendship with the deceased rapper and in the video that is currently going viral, it is clear that the two got along very well. The 1988 video shows the two lip-synching the hit by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and dancing exuberantly at the same time. The footage came up in a 1998 interview with Jada on The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show. Although the actress was able to laugh at the video, she also clearly showed that she was a bit ashamed of it.
Will Smith wrote in his autobiography Will that he was jealous of the friendship between 2Pac and his wife. “Although they were not intimate with each other, their love was legendary,” said Will. “They defined ‘ride or die’. At the beginning of our relationship, I tormented myself with thoughts about their friendship. He was Pac and I was just Will.”

Apart from that, the actor admired 2Pac’s fearless passion, his moral values and his willingness to fight for what he believed in. “Pac was like my brother Harry. He made me see myself as a coward. I hated that Pac was everything I wasn’t in this world and that’s why I was so jealous. I wanted Jada to look at me the way she did looked at him.”
